The Pirates of Paradis
If you are lucky enough to go to Paradis, you will see a bunch of guys at the bottom of the stairs on the beach. They have lots of tubes, bananas, wakeboards and the like. We call them the pirates of Paradis. Over the years we have come to know all of them, led by Paulo who is the owner the guys that we have come to know are Bruno, Steve, Julio, Curtis.
Our kids have basically over the years grown up with these guys during our various trips to Paradis. They do everything from Tube Rides to parasailing, diving with the dolphins, crayfish braai at Coconut island, various snorkeling excursions & they even taught my son James how to do a 360 on the wakeboard. They are typically Mauritian, friendly, laid back & well spoken. Can you imagine living that life with virtually no stress and beautiful surroundings all the time.
The beaches in Mauritius belong to the public so they are allowed to sell their "wares" so to speak on the beach. Whilst the hotel water sports are all free, the rides do cost money so be prepared to pay a bit. It does however provide wonderful entertainment for children & adults alike. Try it out if you are going to Paradis, the guys are great and the tubes are great fun. The Pirates of Paradis are just another reason why we love going to Mauritius so much.
