The time had come and we were off to Mauritius. Great excitement abounded in our household & we were all raring to go. Pass me the passports I said to the wife, here they are - and then there were only three. My son James passport was gone & nowhere to be found, this was at 21h00 when we were leaving the next morning at 09h30. Panic hit the home like a scud missile. Note to self, next time check the passports well in advance & put them in a safe place!
Short of moving the home 5metres to the left we tried everything to find this little green treasure that is a South African Passport. Eventually I remembered having taken my son to the bank to open a savings account & gratefully found the offending passport in my car. It was at that stage that I realized just how much we love our annual family trip to Paradis on the Le Morne peninsula of Mauritius, the blind panic & the fear that I saw in my families eyes defined just what it meant to all of them. Even Amy, James 12 year old sister tried to help which is not an everyday occurrence in our household.
So all was well when I returned home with the treasure, the family was now well primed for a fantastic holiday. Stay tuned for the how the rest of the trip unfolds....... More unplanned action to follow in next week's blog. Let's just say that I did not spend the first night of my holiday where I intended to!
