R and R at Le Victoria, what bliss...

And so our departure date arrives not a moment too soon. 6 of us rush to the bus to board our flight to the island of pure delight.

We land in Mauritius at around 3pm and catch our transfer which took about an hour to reach our beach destination. Beachcomber's 4 star superior Le Victoria Hotel is on the west coast of the island, they welcomed us with the friendliness that I have come to expect from the locals. Already the stress of our everyday lives vanish in the midst of the never ending smiles. We received a welcome drink while they organized our luggage and room keys. The family apartment is an enormous 2 bedroom and 2 bathroom room with a huge balcony leading off both rooms overlooking the palm dotted beach. The weather is perfect for lazily lapping up the scenery while sipping on a cold one.

Now Dreamcatcher is not one to miss out on any meals so she goes off to book up the next 4 nights at the different restaurants. If you are looking for a peaceful spot one lunch time I can definitely recommend the L'Horizon restaurant at the other end of the hotel which we all did a couple of times. Now take a tip from me, Dreamcathcer was right. Get your bookings done and eat to your stomach's content at all the different options available on this all-inclusive option. L'Horizon is a typical beach restaurant then they also have La Casa (Italian) with its breathtaking view over Port Louis, the capital. Le Superbe is Le Victoria's main restaurant with theme buffets every night and "live cooking". Set by the pool, it offers views over the pool and sea.

While on dishing out tips, when taking a dip. Be sure to wear shoes (available at the Beachcomber shop) or croc's will also do as there is quite a bit of coral on the beach. Where there is coral, there are fish so if you want to see the underwater wonderland get out your mask and snorkel (also available at the boathouse but only available freely when there are no glass bottom boat trips going out). Well worth it.

For the rest of us travelling with children, the kid's club is great. The kids can be independent of their parents in the safe and secure environment of the resort. The Bob Marlin kids club has a spacious playground with the most modern equipment. They had a designated dining area in the main restaurant furnished with tables and chairs to suit children and buffets at the right height for them to select their choice if you are in the mood for a evening on your own without them . Entertainment at the Mini Club is tailored to suit two different age groups, 3-6 years and 7-12 years. They even have teen programmes available at peak times for the older kids. They are in great hands and well entertained that they honestly don't want to leave when you go to pick them up.
