My Mauritius Adventure
Everyone knows and goes to Mauritius for their Beach holiday. But Mauritius is actually more than just the beach, it is an adventure Island as well. There is zip-lining, catamaran cruises, quad biking, hiking, trekking, abseiling and scuba diving. When I was in Mauritius in February I went on an adventure day called the "Rando" at the Casela Yemen Nature Escape. The full day Rando costs Rs3350 Mauritian Rupees per person and it consists on going through a number of zip-lines, some lines are quite long others short but very safe to go on. The professionals even show you a few tricks that you can try if you are brave enough.
After about 4 zip lines we swam in a small canyon and had a lovely braai that the Mauritian zip liners prepared and cooked for us. After the lunch we descended the mountain, gone through wooden bridges which is a bit scary but fun at the same time. We made our journey through the lovely park which has stunning plants, trees and you can even find deers. But I didn't see any - just my luck J. As we get deeper into the forest we get to the water where we had to swim 150 metres (more like float) and admire the canyon that we were in. It was beautiful and amazing!!
As we swim towards the end of the canyon, we then had to climb the mountain. The view from the top was stunning, you could see the little towns and the beautiful crystal blue ocean. After admiring the views, it was time to take a big breath to go on the long and high bridge. It was quite scary but the Rando guys are so helpful and friendly that they will strap you to the rails of the bridge and guide you until the end.
Then through some more zip lines and then the fun was over as the circuit is finished. This adventure that I had never done and to be honest I was quite scared because of heights. But the professionals assure you it is safe. The Rando has definitely helped me conquer my fears and it was so much fun and a challenge. If I go back to Mauritius I would definitely do it again.
All the Best Maddy
