My First Time
There I was trembling at the very thought, I had never done this before. I had always wanted to but somehow the opportunity had never presented itself. Anyway I remember the day clearly, being very nervous, my first time, would I be OK, would the moment be too much for me? Would I pull out at the last moment or would I be brave enough & go through with it?
I could not ask for a better place for this all to happen - the beautiful west coast of Mauritius just miles away from the awesome 5 Star Paradis Resort.
You see I am not the bravest soul & the deep blue sea actually scares the hell out of me. I am of course referring to my first time diving with dolphins...... oh I get it, you thought I was referring to something else!!!! Anyway Bruno was our Boatman and he was large & in charge, after about half an hour of searching we found a large pod of Dolphin just off black river on the West Coast of Mauritius. We quickly put our snorkels, goggles and flippers on and in we leapt. It was absolutely incredible, the pod was over 100 dolphin strong and they did not seem to mind us at all. In fact if anything they seemed to welcome us into their home, babies were sticking close to the mums, there were a few adventurous types that were inquisitive but they certainly were not nervous.
We swam with them for about 30 minutes on and off and it was a surreal experience. The sounds emanating from the deep, combined with the family unit and playfulness of the pod has got to go down as one of my best memories ever. Memories that were shared with my family that just can't be replaced or repeated. And then I was thinking, we don't just sell Holidays.... we are fortunate enough to sell dreams & memories.
