Part 2 of Jo (The Sunshine Seeker's) educational trip to Mauritius.
Jo's Jol Part 2
I was priviledged enough to stay in some of the top hotels in Mauritius on my Educational in the beginning of October. We were even among the lucky few to have a night at Royal Palm - the crème dela crème of them all. After spending 3 nights in some of Beachcomber's 5 Star hotels we were checking into Le Mauricia, Beachcomber's "entry level" 4 Star Hotel. Located in the buzzing Grand Baie, you can almost taste the vibe as you enter the hotel.
Families lazing by the large pool, Honeymoon couples watching the sunset on the beach and the young at heart taking part in some rather entertaining water skiing lessons is what you can expect on any day at this tropical Hotel. After an inspection of all the hotel rooms and checking into mine I can very confidently recommend that anyone traveling as a family should consider the Garden Apartments. They are spacious, well appointed and offer two en-suite bathrooms, really very impressive.
And after an exhausting afternoon of swimming and tanning we headed off to our dinner with the Management of the hotel. Not only did they welcome us in true Mauritian style - a Pina Colada served in a coconut - but they were full of entertaining stories and were certainly not afraid to dance the night away with us in Le Mauricia's own underground (soundproof) nightclub. I can without a doubt suggest that anyone looking for a week of fun filled water sports and evening entertainment that will get you wanting to show off some of your own skills, that Le Mauricia is the place to go.
