Eating Out In Mauritius - Paradise
Mauritius is a fusion of many influences & cultures, one of the best things about this blend is the undeniable quality of the many dining experiences. In my humble opinion, if you don't have to then why leave the resort?
Two of my favourite Restaurants in the Beachcomber stable are The Blue Marlin at Paradis & La Casa at Le Victoria. The Blue Marlin has a magnificent setting on the beach looking out over the deep sea fishing boats & the gentle Indian Ocean laps away whilst the musicians play soothing music in the background. Ideal for couples or for families looking for that quiet time together, the food is also of the highest quality and the experience sublime.
La Casa is just a brilliant experience, strangely enough when sitting down & enjoying your meal it just does not feel like you are eating in a Resort Restaurant. The preparation of the food is meticulous, the service unequalled on the island & the setting is very Romantic. In a Nutshell a great place to be & to eat. Booking at both The Blue Marlin & at La Casa is essential.
For those of you that would like to venture out of the Resorts, I would recommend:
La Flore Mauricienne in Port Louis is one of the oldest restaurants on the Island and is a Mauritian French inspired Restaurant. It has stood the test of time and is certainly worth a visit particularly for those that are on a business trip to the Island. In Grand Baie I would recommend the trendy Fusion Restaurant, as the name suggests it has a selection of cuisines to suit every palate. Also in Grand Baie is the aptly named Happy Rajah, if it is good North Indian food that you are looking for. For those in search of variety Ginger in Curepipe is also a good option.
Mauritius is a delightful mix of different cultures, for all the foodies out there I would suggest that you try absolutely everything. Whether you stay in the resort or go out to eat, Mauritius can be a gastronomic experience second to none. Just writing about it gets me going, and naturally topping all of this with an Ice Cold Phoenix Lager is just like Mauritius - Paradise.
